ARTIST BIO: PIET ALTHERS is descended from a long line of Dutch artists, he being the fifth generation of painters and sculptors. Born in Holland, he was educated in fine art at a very early age, with his father being his prime source of inspiration and training. At the age of twelve he emigrated with his family to Spain. Since his first one-man show in 1951, he has travelled, painted and exhibited widely all over Europe. Althers has also experienced success as a designer in the field of ceramics and tapestries. He arrived in the U.S. in 1980 and was met with wide acclaim for his delicate use of color in combination with free, sweeping movement resulting in an aero-dynamic flow and freedom.
