Rolf Iseli is one of the best-known contemporary Swiss artists. Through the creation of informal oil paintings in the post-war period, sculptures and objects in the context of Pop Art and collages and assemblages at the beginning of the 1970s, he finally made the transition to the material image. Since then, Iseli's art has been situated between the art genres. In ever new ways, always committed to the work process, Iseli incorporates natural and man-made materials as well as everyday objects in many different mixed forms into his works. His recurring theme is man and his natural habitat: in vast end-time landscapes, the figure emerges as a primordial being - the antithesis man-nature is suspended and shaped and conceived as a synthesis.
